Indian Association of Merrimack Valley Sponsored Youth group |
Dear IAMV Members, |
|
The IAMV Youth Group has been very active in the past year!!! We have been volunteering in the surrounding community for more than two years now, and we plan to expand our horizons even more in this upcoming year. Since January 2007, we have been visiting the Sutton Hill Nursing Home in North Andover once a month. The seniors enjoy playing bingo, doing arts and crafts, and playing board games with us during our visits (and we enjoy these activities as well!). We have enjoyed this so much that in the following year, we hope to start visiting the Boys and Girls Clubs in Lawrence and spend time with the children there. |
In addition to service activities, the youth group also enjoys participating in fundraising activities. Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger is our major fundraising event of the year. This walk, held annually on the first Sunday in May, raises funds to aid families and individuals around the state who struggle to put food on their tables. This past year, nine of the twenty-six members who participated completed the 21-mile walk in approximately 7 hours. We raised $3,495 as a team, including the contributions of four members who became Heart & Sole walkers by raising $500 or more. With the help of our community we would like to raise even more for the next walk on May 3rd, 2009. Any sponsorship would be greatly appreciated. To donate, please make your checks out to Project Bread and mail them to: |
